Surface Finishing for Rapid Prototyping Parts

Surface finishing is an important step in the manufacturing process of rapid prototyping parts. It involves using various techniques to modify and improve the surface of the parts, enhancing their appearance, functionality, and durability. Some of the common surface finishing techniques used in rapid prototyping include:

Anodizing

Anodizing is a Conversion Coating because the surface aluminum is converted into aluminum oxide. The oxide coating is most commonly created by placing an aluminum part in a sulfuric acid bath while running a low-voltage DC current through the part to cathodes on the side of the tank.

Sand Blasting

Blasting is the process where small angular or spherical particles are propelled at a part by compressed air, or mechanical high speed rotating wheels or water pumps.Sand Blasting is one type of shot blasting. This process releases, at high pressure, fine glass beads to clean or finish a surface.

Powder Coating

Powder coating is an advanced method of applying a decorative and protective finish to a wide range of materials and products that are used by both industries and consumers. The powder used for the process is a mixture of finely ground particles of pigment and resin, which is sprayed onto a surface to be coated.

Electropolishing

Essentially, electropolishing is the improvement in the surface finish of a metal by making it anodic in a suitable solution. With the proper selection of current density, temperature and other conditions, the surface is smoothed and brightened while metal is removed.

Black Oxide

Blasting is the process where small angular or spherical particles are propelled at a part by compressed air, or mechanical high speed rotating wheels or water pumps.Sand Blasting is one type of shot blasting. This process releases, at high pressure, fine glass beads to clean or finish a surface.

Electroplating

Electroplating is an electrolytic process for depositing a layer of metal upon a substrate to enhance the appearance or properties of the component. Electroplating is a process of depositing a metallic coating of desired form over a surface(or substance) by the passage of electric current through a solution.

Our Advantages of Rapid Prototyping

Naxtry offers top-notch CNC machining rapid prototyping services for high-quality, customized products. Our team of experts utilizes advanced technology and precision equipment to bring your ideas to life.

Speed

Rapid prototyping allows for quick turnaround times and reduces the time it takes to go from concept to physical prototype. This enables faster iterations and improvements to the design, leading to a more efficient product development process.

Cost-effectiveness

Rapid prototyping helps to minimize costs associated with traditional prototyping methods, such as the creation of molds or tooling. This reduces the overall cost of development and allows for more experimentation and iterations to occur during the design process.

Improved Communication

Rapid prototyping provides a physical representation of the design, making it easier to communicate and share ideas with stakeholders, clients, and other members of the product development team. This leads to more effective collaboration and a better understanding of the design among all parties involved.
